Finishing Up your Final Projects


Today you are finishing up your Final Projects.

You need to update your Investment Portfolio Spreadsheet 1st with the current value of the stocks you purchased.

Next you need to finish the slides

You should have all of them completed at the end of the period EXCEPT for slide 10.  

You next need to complete 15 days in the Pet Shop game and record your results in the spreadsheet linked below.  You need to SAVE IT AS A COPY into your LDRIVE.

Final Project Continued - Congratulations?????

You find out today that your inheritance from your obscure relative wasn't as amazing as you thought it was going to be.  You get to keep the $100 million you invested but the other $100 million dollars was tied up in a Pet Shop Empire.  Selling the business isn't an option because it would not sell at a competitive price.  Therefore, you will have to make the business amazing!

The Petshop business is a Franchise of 10,000 stores nationally.  Therefore, everyday's profit shown will be multiplied by $10,000.

Your goal is to maximize the value of the Pet Shop empire by making it as profitable as possible.

Day 2 - Updating our Budgeting Lists and a Strange Happening........

Today the students are updating and finishing all slides from Yesterdays task.  They need to update their Year 1 Budget Slide by filling in the information in the Budget Tool Below for Year 1 Monthly Budget.

Once they have completed their Monthly Budget they need to Print it out and turn it into Mr. Robinson

 On their Slide they will have to show their Current Income, Current Monthly Expenses, Percent of Income Spent, and Money Left over.

Then they find out in a weird turn of events that a distance 2nd Cousin's Uncle has passed away and left them a Small Fortune to build upon.  They just Inherited $200,000,000.00.  They need to take 100 million dollars of that money and invest it into the stock market.  Their Goal is to make as much money as possible and maybe become a Billionaire..  The students need to use the link below and find 15 companies they wish to invest in.  They will be tracking their Daily Profits/Losses on their Investment portfolio Slide.  

They also need to do a Company Profile of 5 of the companies they chose.  Each Profile has the Companies Name,  Logo,  Business Sector, and Why they believe this stock is going to perform.

They need to print their Slide that contains the 5 companies at the end of the period.

Final Project - Who Wants to be a Billionaire Day One

Congratulations, You have recently had the opportunity to graduate from the College of your Choice and the Career of your choosing.  What you did not know was that you also were selected by the United States Government to participate in one of the greatest challenges of all time, Who Wants to be a Billionaire.


But first....

Today you need to complete the following tasks as you prepare to learn more about the challenge ahead of you.

Step 1:  Students need to create a Powerpoint Presentation using One Drive.  They will need to include 10 slides.  They need to be titled as follows:

Step 2:  Choose a career and then use the link below to identify the starting Salary for individuals in your chosen career.

Future Goals STEM Scholarship

Today the students will be practicing their College Scholarship Application Skills.  They will be participating in the Future Goals educational program.  They will then submit a short essay to become eligible for the $1000 scholarship.

The students will need to submit their Rough Draft of the paper by the end of the School Day on Monday, May 1st.

Hidden Brain Poster

Today the students will be creating a Group Poster about the Hidden Brain podcast they listened to and discussed yesterday.  




The students need to break into Groups of 3-4 Students and Complete a Poster Set Up as the one above.  Each Group turns in 1 poster!

Activity: 


Pick three careers you might want to pursue after college. Write down each of these options and why you chose them. Write for a few minutes about each of these different career paths.

For each of these paths, identify two ways you could ‘prototype’ being in that career. 

What do you think you wouldn’t like about that career path?

You will be designing a day in the life of a college student from the University  that you drew.


You will have to build a 12 scene Goanimate Documentary in the following format.


Scene 1 - Title Card (Includes the name of your University and your name)
Scene 2 - Wake Up (In this scene you talk about the different housing options available to College students at your university.  You must include Campus Housing, Greek Housing (If present) and Apartment choices.
Scene 3 -  Dining Hall (In this Scene you are outlining the different Campus Dining Choices.  This includes how students pay for their meals and different plans available.)
Scene 4 -  First Class of the day - English 101  (You must find a syllabus from an entry level English Class and Highlight the semester of work a typical freshman has)
Scene 5 - Second Class of the day - Math 101 (You must find a syllabus from an entry level Math Class and Highlight the semester of work a typical freshman has)
Scene 6 - Third Class - Elective Class of your Choosing (You must find a syllabus from an entry level Elective Class and Highlight the semester of work a typical freshman has)
Scene 7 - Fourth Class - Elective Class of your Choosing (You must find a syllabus from an entry level Elective Class and Highlight the semester of work a typical freshman has)
Scene 8 - Study Time (In this scene you are detailing the campus resources for studying.  Include the different University resource available.)
Scene 9 - Recreation Time (In this scene you are outlining the different campus resources for Recreation. Include Indoor and Outdoor Rec Centers that are present)
Scene 10 - Dinner Time (In this scene you outline the common dining options available off campus.)

This Mini Documentary will be writing intensive.  The Total time for the project is 8-10 minutes.   Which means that each slide is a minimum of 48 seconds long.  Use the Cornell Note paper following this sheet to outline your scenes!

Today the students have an opportunity to learn about the future of education.  They need to get out a sheet of notebook paper from their freshly cleaned binders.  They will be taking Cornell Notes on the video and doing a Quick Write summary of the Ted Talk.  (8 Sentence minimum) They will be turning their notes in at the end of the period.
