Today in Avid: Invention Design, Basketball, and SLPackets

Today in Mr. Robinson's Avid we are getting our first Individual and Service Learning Packets.

The students are going to start flushing out ideas for their Invention that is going to make the world a better place.  The students will be working in small groups and having 2-3 minutes to brainstorm ideas independently and then share their ideas with their class mates.  The classmates will then have 2 minutes to share their thoughts on the inventions as well.   This activity will be done in with the help of our College Tutors.

First, however, the students will be continuing to work on their Critical Studying Skills.  We will be exploring an invention that has already changed the face of the world and helped many individuals get themselves onto a path of success.

The students will be finishing their "My Song" project.

If they finish early they may finish their TRF Reflections.

If they have completed those they may work on the following options.

Today in 7th Grade AVID. TRF's and Informational Flyers

Today the students will be working through their Tutorials Groups and creating Informational Flyers.

The students completing their TRF's will be placed in the following groups.

Group 1 with Tutor

Kyara
Maggie

Evan
D'Mitri

Group 2 with Tutor (if No Tutor Kendall is Interim Tutor)

Grantland
Bailey
Parker
Kendall
Kaitlyn S.

The remaining students will begin working on their Informational Flyer using Microsoft Word.  They will need to grab a computer from the COW cart, sign into their account, and go to the class website.

Then they will begin creating their own file using Microsoft Word.

Their Flyer must following the following rules.

1.  It must be titled Dress for Success
2.  It must include 4 reasons why Dressing Professionally has a positive impact.
3.  It must include a minimum of 4 Image files.
4.  It must have at least 3 different types of font used.
5.  It must have a border.

This Week in AVID - Our Appearance, A New Planet, and TRF's

This week the students are thinking about professional appearances and what exactly that means.  We will be working through a couple of videos and writing prompts to get our minds primed on the subject.  On Friday, the students will be creating print Advertisements based to help show visually what they have created mentally.

We are finishing our Commercials.

Students are editing their commercial using Windows Movie Maker below.  If they did not film they are finishing their storyboard and exporting those files.

You will be creating a 5 frame story board of how you to survive in the lunch line.

After creating the storyboard you will be exporting the images.  Then you will upload the images into Windows Movie Maker and create a short video with the images.
